In addition to a Virginia Fishing License, an annual permit is required to fish the Moormans River Trout Management Area, the tailwater section below Sugar Hollow Reservoir Dam, which is maintained, stocked and improved by the TJTU. This section of the river is Catch & Release, Artificial Flies Only.
Permits are $55/year and are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. All proceeds support the Thomas Jefferson Chapter's conservation and educational activities. This includes stocking the tailwater section 3-5 times/year, stream maintenance and improvements as well as programs like Trout in the Classroom.
Permits are available at the following locations:
You can also buy your permit online here using the button on this page. However you buy the permit, bring a digital or paper copy of your receipt with you to the river when you fish.
Join us at a regular Chapter meeting. Check the Events schedule for details.
