To bring together diverse interests to care for and recover rivers and streams so our children can experience the joy of wild and native trout and the beautiful environments they thrive in.
The Thomas Jefferson Chapter is an all-volunteer subsidiary of the national nonprofit, Trout Unlimited and is based in the greater Charlottesville, Virginia area. The eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park are just minutes away.
Our Home Waters are the North and South Forks of the Moormans River and the Moormans River tailwater of Sugar Hollow Reservoir. We promote the protection and conservation of this and other local watersheds through events and education projects that benefit students, residents and visitors.
TJTU actively stocks, improves and maintains the section of river below Sugar Hollow Reservoir, including trails, educational kiosks and a handicap-accessible fishing area at the Flat Pool. An annual permit is required to fish this improved section of the river.
